Snap,
Spot....Kicked How 'bout 'em? I've never laughed so hard in my life as I did watching the end of the Cowboys-Seahawks Wild Card game this past weekend. The Cowboys are really on a roll....they still haven't won a playoff game since December of 1996. That's pathetic. Given the nature of the typical NFL fan, you either love the Cowboys or you hate them....it looks like everybody got a kick out of Tony Romo's legendary drop. The play will be the highlight of the NFL Playoffs....and what hurts the most for Cowboy fans is that they had the game won. Plus, as weak as the NFC seems to be, the Cowboys would've been in position to make it to Miami for the Super Bowl. So much for TO and the Tuna. Parcells is now 0-2 in the playoffs during his tenure in Big D....Can you imagine the plane ride back to Dallas? I wonder how talkative TO and Jerry Jones were during the trip back from the Pacific Northwest? Silence is golden. As for the NFL playoffs, the games were ok....New York City is on suicide watch, after seeing the Jets and Giants get eliminated on the same day, and the KC Chiefs were absolutely brutal in their loss at Indy. By the way, how can a "playoff team" get their initial first down in a game at the 3 minute mark of the third quarter? The Chiefs played like Duke. And, how about the Blue Devils? No, I'm not talking about their lame football program, I'm talking about Coach K's hoopsters. The Blue Devils lost to Virginia Tech in overtime at Cameron Indoor Stadium. Let's face it, the Blue Devils are young, and they are just not that good. The loss was Duke's first overtime home loss since February of 1995 (to UNC during K's "bad back" season). Duke wasn't the only Top 10 team to go down...#1 UCLA, Arizona and Alabama also joined the Blue Devils in this department. The loss by the Bruins allowed the Clemson Tigers to be the last undefeated team in college basketball. You've got to be kidding me....Clemson? The Tigers will put their streak on the line this week with road games at NC State and Maryland. If somehow they survive this week, guess who comes to Tigertown next week?....You guessed it....#1 North Carolina. I think we all know what happened the last time the Heels were ranked #1 and played at Littlejohn....it was the beginning of the end of the Matt Doherty regime with the biggest upset in ACC basketball history. The NFL pink slips have been flying, and with the NY Giants being bumped out of the playoffs, it wouldn't surprise anyone to see Tom Coughlin get axed. But it didn't take long for the Atlanta Falcons to fill their vacancy by hiring Bobby Petrino from Louisville. I could have sworn I was just watching Petrino accept the Orange Bowl trophy and talk about winning the national title in 2007 for the Cardinals. Money talks. Lastly, as of this blog entry, the Carolina Panthers continue to stay "status quo" with their coaching staff.....I guess Richardson, Fox and Hurney feel great about the staff and the direction of the franchise. If all stays quiet on the Panthers' front, the boys better be good in 2007. I couldn't help but notice that the Jacksonville Jaguars cleaned house last week with their offensive coaches. Jack Del Rio fired five of them and the Jags finished with the 10th ranked offense in the NFL. The Panthers have made zero moves and their offense was ranked 24th in the league. The Jags, like the Panthers, finished 8-8 and were very disappointed about missing the playoffs. I can't wait to see what the sports world is going to provide this week...so far, 2007 has been rocking. |
