Back from The Big Easy

I just returned from....or should I say "survived"....a week in New Orleans, covering the BCS title game on SiriusXM.

I love N'awlins....and I hadn't spent that much time in the Crescent City since my single days, when I was consulting/working with the folks at LSU....and that was a long time ago.

The city does a great job hosting mob scenes....and after a week that consisted of the Sugar Bowl, Saints playoff game and the mass of humanity of the Bama/LSU BCS title game...the locals were ready.

New Orleans is the perfect location for a giant event....the bigger, the better.

I guess that's one of the reasons the NCAA Final Four and next year's Super Bowl will be coming to town. It will be a lay-up for the town that truly never sleeps....sorry, Vegas.

The amazing thing about New Orleans is that it appears devoid of any rules or regulations....yet I never felt like I was in danger or threatened. The city is the perfect host....regardless of your taste, likes and influences.

I can't wait to get back down to the Big Easy for the upcoming Final Four in April.

I can't say enough about the hospitality of the locals down in Louisiana....and the same goes for the players and coaches at Alabama.

Nick Saban & Co. put on a clinic of game plan and execution during the BCS title game. The Tide was awesome.

I truly thought the game would be much better....but Bama was simply too good for LSU when it mattered the most.

I thought the Tigers' performance rivaled Butler's national title hoops performance last year.....neither team could do anything right.

I've never seen LSU play such a lifeless game....and I know a bunch of it had to be attributed to Bama's incredible execution on both sides of the ball. It was total domination.

I was hoping to be entertained by the two best college football teams in America....unfortunately, only one of them decided to participate.

Tim Tebow is on fire.

And Sir Charles Barkley is hating every minute of it.

While Tebow and his Broncos were kicking the Pittsburgh Steelers to the curb, the nation was tuning in at a record pace. Everybody is watching Tebow...some love the guy, others can't wait for him to fail.

He has become the most polarizing figure in American sports....and maybe that's why Barkley can't stand it.

Barkley claimed that the "nation's nightmare" continues every time Tebow and Denver advance in the playoffs. Maybe Charles would think more of him if he chased skanks and whores, gambled and ate himself into oblivion?

I'm not a Tebow lover or hater.....and to be honest with you, I'm not really sure how he even reached this level of cult status.

He's a guy who is deeply religious and he wears it on his sleeves....so do a lot of coaches and athletes, but somehow there is some type of stigma associated with the Broncos' QB. That is the part that I really don't comprehend, but the numbers don't lie....Tebow moves the meter.

I didn't think Denver would beat the Steelers, and I don't think the Broncos will beat Brady and the Patriots. What I do know is that Charles Barkley will be somewhere in America sneaking a double-cheese burger during his Weight Watchers program....smoking a cigar....and probably peeking around his lap dance to see if the Patriots are winning the game.

I couldn't help but chuckle at Charlotte Bobcats coach Paul Silas, after his squad played a sloppy game against Houston this week. The team was playing their second consecutive game after losing the previous night to the lowly NY Knicks.

Back-to-back games in the NBA has always been perceived as a difficult task....and I don't know why, since these guys have been playing hoops for 15 hours a day, every day their entire lives.....but now that they are making millions and traveling on a chartered jet....having to play a 48-minute game on two consecutive days is now considered manual labor.

But back to the Bobcats....Silas claimed his team was tired after the game vs. the Knicks.

What do you think the players and coaches will say when the Bobcats play three straight games beginning on Thursday of this week?

I just hope they can win one of them in the process....after a 2-8 start, Michael Jordan's club is looking at a very long year.
