How
'Bout 'Em? Hey, T.O., do you want butter on your popcorn? The Dallas Cowboys still haven't won a playoff game since December 28, 1996. As of Monday, that would be 4,034 days...and counting, since they last tasted victory in the post-season. I've got to be honest with you; I can't stop laughing over their collapse. Cowboy fans are certainly passionate and they love their team. I applaud them for that. But the problem surrounds their inability to deal with the real world. I keep hearing about their 5 World Championship teams, but it has been ages since they've done a damn thing in the post-season. Think about it; 1996 was a long time ago, and the boys in Big D are still pitching a shutout. The Cowboys are the first top-seed in the NFC to lose during the divisional round since 1990. Hilarious. Tony Romo can now go cuddle with his air-headed bimbo, Jessica Simpson....assuming that she's still interested. Terrell Owens can chill out and try to come up with some new material in the off-season. Jerry Jones can make a new appointment with his plastic surgeon. Wade Phillips is still perfect in the playoffs, too....he's never won a game. Cowboy fans now have to sit back and wonder "What if...?", while Brett Favre and the Green Bay Packers host the NFC Championship game against the upstart New York Giants. At least one Manning is playing this week. Before the Cowboys' traditional choke job, the Indy Colts were quietly going about their business as the defending champs. Peyton Manning and his high-flying offense fell short at home as the San Diego Chargers found enough stars to knock off the champs. It was interesting to watch former N.C. State QB, Philip Rivers. The Chargers' signal caller has guts, talent and a huge ego to boot. Some people can't stand his arrogance and ability to talk smack with the best of them....but to be a great player in the NFL, or anywhere else for that matter, you better have confidence in your abilities. The Chargers upset the Colts with LT and Rivers on the bench in crunch time. Some guy by the name of Billy Volek took care of business, while Rivers was jawing with the Colts' crowd. It was an incredible win for Norv Turner, and for classy Tony Dungy, he walks into an off-season with questions surrounding his return to Indianapolis. The loss by the #2-seeded Colts continues an interesting trend....in the last 5 years, the #2 seeds are 5-5 in the divisional round of the playoffs. The Green Bay Packers playing in a snowy Lambeau Field during the post-season....what a perfect postcard. Brett Favre continues to turn back the clock, as the Pack makes it back to the NFC title game for the first time since 1998. I've got to be honest; I thought Favre was washed up a few years ago, and his ridiculous delays in announcing his possible retirement drove me nuts. In the end, Favre has been rejuvenated with a Packer team that has made all the right moves in the front office. In their last 21 games, Green Bay is an impressive 18-3 and they are playing with great confidence and at home in the NFC Championship game. What else can you say about the New England Patriots? They're perfect and Tom Brady put on a performance for the ages. He was a mere 26 of 28 throwing the football, and they moved another step closer to one of the greatest accomplishments in sports history. Ironically, Jacksonville Jags rookie Reggie Nelson stated after the game that Brady "ain't all that". Shut up, rookie. So, it's the Giants at the Packers and the Patriots host the Chargers....hey, T.O., grab a seat and pass the popcorn. |
