With The Pacman Come on, Pacman.....you're giving me a bad name. What is up with the derelict from the Tennessee Titans? I guess he just wants to uphold the latest trend in the NFL....and that's to get arrested. The NFL is on a roll; they are making the NBA guys look like choirboys. While the NBA gets tagged and labeled as a league out of control, the NFL is the one that's in a class all by themselves....and yet, nobody seems to care. While the NBA was the star attraction in Vegas last week, it was the NFL that took centerstage. The actions of Pacman Jones and his posse are truly disgusting. The latest incident at a strip club in Sin City marks his eighth run-in with the law since being drafted by the Titans. It's a good thing the NFL is considering a three strikes and you're out rule....I'm sure that will fly....I wonder how the Cincinnati Bengals will vote on that issue? Even the holier-than-thou, angelic face of the league, Tom Brady, was in the news. It looks like the Patriots' star quarterback knocked up his old girlfriend, actress Bridget Moynahan, and the un-couple will celebrate the birth of a new child later in 2007. Brady caught wind of the news while messing around in Italy with his new drop-dead gorgeous model. According to my records, Brady is still trailing Shawn Kemp, but he is concentrating on quality, not quantity. I
read in the Boston Herald, that a California condom company was
going to supply the All-Pro QB over 2,000 prophylactics. To make
it even more dramatic, the company's super-hero mascot, "Condom-Man"
was going to do the honors by making a personal delivery. I sure hope
they were able to get them to Brady before he headed over to Europe
with his latest super-babe...by the looks of things, whether he's
on or off the field, he needs all the protection he can get. The ACC regular season comes to a close this week as we get ready for tournament play and March Madness. I really thought UNC would win the regular season comfortably, but it looks like a four-team race with a week to go. The Heels, Hokies and Wahoos are all 10-4 and BC is close behind at 10-5. While those teams battle down the stretch, two teams seem to be peaking at the right time....Maryland and Duke. Ironically, they meet at Cameron Indoor Stadium on Wednesday night. They both seem to be playing their best basketball of the season at the most important time of the year. The Terps looked dead in the water a few weeks ago, but Gary Williams' guys have caught fire and have won 5 straight conference games. Mike Krzyzewski stated last week that he thought the ACC should get 9 teams in the Big Dance....he's demented. The conference has 6 locks with a week to go....UNC, Virginia Tech, BC, Virginia, Maryland and Duke. Unless Georgia Tech, FSU and the spineless Clemson Tigers get red-hot, the league will be matching their all-time total of 6 teams in the NCAA Tournament. Speaking
of Clemson, is it possible for a team to be 17-0, ranked 14th in the
country in January, and then find themselves hosting a game in the
NIT? Leave it to the Tigers....they have lost 9 of their last
11. They have a chance to finally reach 20 wins if they can
get by the putrid Miami Hurricanes at home on Wednesday night. I noticed that the Duke lacrosse team was back in action this past weekend. Nearly 6,500 fans showed up to cheer their fallen heroes. I wonder why Ted Roof can't get 6,500 people to show up for one of their football games? The Duke lacrosse team has been in the news for all the wrong reasons, and I'm sure everyone associated with the program was glad to get back to action. I noticed that Duke University has a concert celebration titled "Last Day of Class" on April 25th. The concert will be headlined by rapper, Common....the reason I point this out is because "Common" ripped into the Duke lacrosse team last year at a performance at Emory University when he freestyled, "F - them damn N-gers from Duke lacrosse". It seems that the brainiacs from Duke have a signed contract with the rapper, and he is looking forward to the concert and his check from Duke University. The head of the "Last Day of Class" event is chairwoman Beth Higgins, who told the NY Daily News about the rapper's actions, "I had no idea". Brilliant. The powerbrokers at Duke should write the man a check, and make sure he never steps foot on the campus. Duke can afford the cash, but not the PR nightmare. They should know better by now. The school, the lacrosse team and the rapper would all be better off. |
