Last Hurrah

Brett Favre is facing 4th and long, and he's also starting to get on my nerves.

The Packers' season ended with a thud. A 4-12 record left everyone in Packerland asking questions about the immediate future of the team. The biggest question for the Pack surrounded their three-time MVP quarterback. Is Brett coming back for another season in the land of Lombardi and brats?

Favre contended he needed some time away from the game to get his thoughts together about playing another season in Green Bay. That certainly seemed to make sense for all parties involved. Not only was the season a wreck, but so was the Favre family which has suffered heartbreak in the past few years.

As we enter April, the NFL Draft looms at the end of the month. And the Green Bay Packers and the rest of the NFL fans would like to know if #4 is coming back to Lambeau Field.

Favre isn't saying....sort of. Favre continues to hold out and play a wait-and-see game with the Packers' front office. The legendary quarterback mentioned recently that he wanted to see the organization make the necessary changes to bring in the right players to get the team back in the championship hunt.

Personally, I think the Packers are going to be average at best with or without Favre in 2006...but this is all about Favre and his decision to play this season.

The Packers originally gave Favre an April 1st deadline for a decision...and they decided to give him extra time and pushed the deadline back to April 15th.

Over the weekend, Favre held a press conference at his charity golf tournament...finally, Favre was going to let the Packers and the rest of the world know his decision about playing in 2006.

Wrong.

Favre opened his press conference by stating, "The fact that we're sitting here today at this press conference, to me, is a joke because I don't have anything to tell you".

Brett, you've become a joke. Make up your mind. Either you want to play, or you don't. The Packer organization has gone beyond the call of duty in offering support to their future Hall of Fame QB. The Packers need to know his decision so they can move forward.

Favre even had the audacity to state that he definitely won't play in 2007...Thanks, Brett. Nobody cares about 2007. How about this season?

I have always been a big fan of Favre...his enthusiasm for playing the game, his ability to play hurt, and his raw talent have always been a joy to watch.

But watching Favre lately has been a turnoff...it shouldn't take this long to determine if you have lost your zeal to play a game that has made you rich and famous.

Brett Favre has started in 241 consecutive games...an NFL record. Brett, it is time to make up your mind if #242 is in your future.
