Pain in the Neck Tough times for Tiger. After an embarrassing effort in Charlotte, the world's top player had to withdraw from the Players Championship with a severe pain in the neck. Tiger Woods is having a year to forget, and unfortunately for him, it's just beginning. It's still not known if he has a bulging disc, or as ESPN's Steve Levy declared, "a bulging dick", or if it is a pinched nerve....but either way, Tiger Woods is the walking wounded and I'm not even talking about his golf game. If I were Woods, I'd take a leave of absence and wouldn't return until both my personal life and golf game returned to normal....or at least as close as possible. Right now, Tiger is a mess both on and off the course. Speaking of the Players Championship, Tim Clark found the perfect time to win his first PGA Tour event. It was his first win in 204 starts on Tour.....not bad, for the former NC State golfer. It also continues a great trend for Wolfpack sports, especially when you consider the following news items from the past week:
Throw in the Wear twins transferring from UNC, and State fans have reason to be happy. I'm pro-taser. What took place last week in Philly was ridiculous. Any idiot that decides to run on the field of play deserves what comes his or her way. In the case of Steve Consalvi, it was a taser shot that was well-deserved. His stupidity caused a firestorm of activity on every sports talk venue in the country. For me, this is a no-brainer. The second any moron steps foot on the field, he/her has lost all of their rights. It's called trespassing...and when you throw in a complete disregard to listening to the security officer(s) telling you to stop.....well, if it's a taser, then so be it. I think it should be mandatory to use a taser on any idiot that thinks it's cool to hop the fence and disrupt a game. In addition, the fool should be banned from attending another game in their lifetime. That penalty and punishment should do the trick. I couldn't help but notice that another drunk moron decided to cause problems at the Players Championship before being subdued, compliments of a taser from the local authorities. What stunned me (no pun intended), is that the guy wasn't wearing a Phillies jersey. Nice job, LT. Lawrence Taylor continues to keep his reputation as one of the worst guys on the planet, with yet another arrest. I have no respect for this guy.....and it's a shame that one of the greatest football players ever can't figure out a way to stay out of jail. His latest accomplishment involves an underaged girl in some New Jersey fleabag hotel. LT is a joke. The best part of the entire mess is when his attorney declared to the media that nothing took place with Taylor and he was looking forward to heading back home to see his wife. Happy Mother's Day. I'm sure Mrs. Taylor is really proud of her man....I wonder if she'll borrow Elin's 9-iron? I hope they throw this guy in jail and keep him there.....for as long as it takes. He's become a complete embarrassment to mankind. How boring is this round of the NBA Playoffs? With the exception of LeBron's Cavs struggling with Boston, the other three series have been yawners. As of this post, all of the other series are 3-0, and for the most part have created very little buzz or interest. Maybe the conference finals will inject some excitement and intrigue, because at this point, I'm bored to tears. I can't believe how bad the Hawks have played against the Magic. At this point, they are making the Bobcats' effort against Orlando look spectacular. In the first three games of the ATL-Orlando series, the Hawks have been beaten once by 30 and once by 43 points. NBA Basketball is fantastic. Wake me when we get to the conference finals. I'm looking forward to checking out the NASCAR Hall of Fame on Tuesday. We're scheduled to be broadcasting live from the site....I'll give you a full report next week on the website. Denny Hamlin had a nice weekend, by sweeping both races at Darlington....that's the first time it's happened in 17 years. Since the start of the 2007 season, Hamlin now has 9 wins which places him only behind Jimmie Johnson (27), Kyle Busch (14) and Carl Edwards (12). You can probably win a bar bet with that stat. I also noticed that Dale, Jr. has climbed back in the Top 12 for the Chase for the Cup. I keep waiting for Junior to win a race....he is fast approaching the two-year anniversary since his last win, which was in Michigan in June of 2008. It's also hard to believe that 19 different drivers have won a NASCAR points race since Dale, Jr.'s last victory. He has one win in the last 145 NASCAR points races. Yikes. |
