Serve & Protect

God bless the men and women that made the ultimate sacrifice to make this the greatest country in the world. We should never, ever lose sight of their service...they are the real "American Heroes".

I love the Memorial Day holiday....it means something....or at least it should mean something to every single American.

I also love watching the Indy 500 and Coca-Cola 600, too.

The finale at Indy was a classic....Dario Franchiti picked up his 3rd win at the Brickyard and joined some elite racing company. Granted, all three of his wins came under caution, but he still has 3 "W's" to his credit.

I actually heard the PA announcer at the IMS declare, "Congratulations to Ashley Judd and her husband, Dario Franchiti".

Now you have to admit, that's hilarious....who knew the Kentucky hoops fanatic was behind the wheel?

Plus, when did any Kentucky basketball fan receive so much attention and love with an event taking place in Indiana?

While Dario was sipping the milk and basking in the delight of another victorious performance....down South, Kasey Kahne was getting ready to claim his 3rd "600" victory and his first as a member of Team Hendrick.

The win for Kahne now gives him as many "Hendrick wins" as Dale Jr....of course, Junior hasn't crossed the start-finish line with a Cup win since 2008.

While Kahne was winning, the FOX Sports crew led by Darrell Waltrip was singing the praises of the "Face", Danica Patrick. The Go Daddy car was only lapped 5 times and finished in 30th position.

But who needs Kahne, when you have Danica?

What a joke.

The NCAA Baseball Championship gets underway later this week, and the field of 64 has been announced.

Once again, the SEC and ACC are well represented with 8 and 7 teams respectively.

I've made this statement on-air many times, but I really feel that the most amazing streak in college athletics involves the ACC and baseball.

The league is traditionally strong and has had dozens of big-time teams.....however, the last time the ACC won the national championship in baseball was back in 1955.

1955.

Unlike the Clemson winless streak in Chapel Hill in hoops....the Tigers have been favored maybe 2 or 3 times....don't get me wrong, they've got the "due factor", but they are usually an underdog.

Baseball is different. The ACC has had great teams that make it to Omaha and disappear.

It is hard to believe that the conference has gone this long without a dog pile celebration on the mound in Nebraska.

The South Carolina Gamecocks have won the last two titles, and they are looking to three-peat. The SEC has placed at least one team in Omaha for the past 19 years....and I'm not betting against them this year, either.

Ping Pong Fever.

The Charlotte Bobcats will learn their fate on Wednesday night, and if ever they need a break....Wednesday would be the night.

Michael Jordan and his collection of "players" will hope that the ping pong ball bounces their way and gives the club a much needed dose of energy along with Kentucky's Anthony Davis.

Since the NBA went to this new format in 1994, only 3 times in the past 18 years has the NBA's worst regular season team captured the top pick.

That doesn't bode well for Charlotte....but maybe the Bobcats are due for some good news.

I hope so.

We'll find out Wednesday night.

It's hard to believe that the NBA Conference Finals are taking place.....in the East, it's the Celtics & Heat and out west we've got the Thunder & Spurs.

What's more amazing is that all four of the clubs have won more games in the playoffs than the Bobcats did all season with a 66-game schedule.

That's scary....
