"Hush" Limbaugh

The Philadelphia Eagles soap opera has a new character.

His name is Limbaugh...Hush Limbaugh.

A few years ago on the NFL Countdown show on HYPE, Rush Limbaugh was hired to do "riveting commentary" on the NFL. It was one of those typical moves by the worldwide leader in sports to generate interest via "hype" as opposed to insight. It was the network's version of the Dennis Miller hiring on ABC's Monday Night Football.

Rush Limbaugh spoke his mind about Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb, and he caught grief from everybody. Limbaugh hinted that McNabb was overrated because the national and local media wanted to see a black quarterback succeed.

Limbaugh was ripped apart, and many thought it was a racist statement. Not me...I thought it was a flat-out stupid statement. It did not take long for ESPN to feel the heat of the right-winger's mouth, and they later dismissed Rush from the show. The great experiment was over in Bristol.

Now, Limbaugh appears on the stage of the Eagles' award-winning Off-Broadway training camp. Listen to this one....

Rush Limbaugh wants to help Donovan McNabb end the love-spat with Terrell Owens, and he wants them to come on his radio show to iron out their differences.

Huh?

Seriously, Limbaugh on his Friday program offered to assist the two stars in settling their differences once and for all. Limbaugh said, "I am here to offer and assist...I can bring these two guys together."

He added that "they may not want to talk to each other face-to-face, but perhaps they would join me on this program and speak to each other telephonically via this program and settle this."

Who came up with this idea...HYPE?

I think the chances of Donovan McNabb spending time on Rush Limbaugh's show are about as good as Jerry Richardson hosting "PrimeTime with the Packman" this week.

I've got to hand it to the Eagles, they have delivered the most entertaining preseason performance in the NFL in decades. Reality television has nothing on the defending NFC Champs.

I have no idea what the Eagles have planned for an encore, but if this team...as screwed up as it finds itself in August...can play well and make a run at the title this year, more power to them.

Regardless of what happens, somebody should invite "Hush" Limbaugh to camp...now, that's something I can would enjoy watching for a change on ESPN.
