What
Took So Long? The Philadelphia Eagles finally came to their senses and suspended problematic Terrell Owens for the remainder of the 2005 season. How much crap was the Eagles organization going to take from T.O.? Andy Reid, the Philly coach, seems like a players' coach. He also looks like a guy that will put up with no garbage from his guys....that is until the arrival of America's biggest sports jerk. In all due respect to the Giants' Barry Bonds, T.O. is the new leader in the clubhouse when it comes to being an arrogant pain in the ass. I'm not sure that I have seen a more self-centered egomaniac than Owens. Don't get me wrong; I think the guy can play....and he's a big-time player when it matters. (Unlike Keyshawn Johnson and others that can be listed)...but enough is enough. The Philadelphia Eagles now find themselves in the NFC East cellar and without a playmaker like T.O...And believe it or not, they will be better off without the jackass. The Eagles' next game is this upcoming Monday night against the Cowboys, and I'm sure there is already a sense of relief. Sure, the Eagles will miss him on the field, but there is no way you can operate when a guy is as disruptive as #81 in an Eagles jersey. Donovan McNabb has tried to stay above the fray all year long, but you can tell the injuries and the ubiquitous nag have been bothering him all season long. I have no idea if the Eagles will win enough games to make the playoffs...one reason is the pressure of defending the NFC title and the other is that the NFC East is very competitive. But I can guarantee you that the Eagles will feel better about themselves coming to work every day, knowing that the loudmouth is not hanging around the locker room and on the field. For Owens, he has done a masterful job in alienating every player, coach and front office member. It is hard to believe that Owens could be as dumb as he has displayed since his great performance in Super XXXIX in Jacksonville. The constant bashing of his star quarterback and complaining about his 7-year, $49 million dollar contract is enough to drive the most supportive Eagle fan through the roof. T.O....good riddance, and don't let the door hit you on the ass on your way out. |
